What are browser cookies?
Browser cookies are small text files that reside on your computer and contain mostly the login information from your Internet browser.
Whenever you interact with your browser on Internet, some session is created, for eg, when you login at GMail, a session is created until you log out. You must remember that on many email accounts when you login you are provided with an option of remember me. This option enables the script on the mail server to create a cookie on your computer. This cookie is read only by the browser with which you interacted. Now whenever you login again in your email account will not find any login screen , because the input needed by the login screen has been provided by the browser cookie.
Cookies are always prone to hacking, because many malware software in order to track your browsing activity place these cookies in your computer. Many people always block cookies because they don't want anyone to access information if the form of a file from their computer.
Cookies are not permanent in nature and expire after some time. This time limit is defined the the server side script of your email service provider.
